Our Story

Northlake was born from a love for Oakland and the belief that every Oaklander deserves a safe, clean, and vibrant downtown.

While it may be Oakland’s newest neighborhood, Northlake is about honoring what already makes this city great — its people, its culture, and its sense of possibility.

Formerly Auto Row, Northlake is now home to an intersection of thousands of residents, top-tier companies, and dozens of Oakland-grown restaurants, bars, entrepreneurs, and retailers.

Now a dynamic public space, Lot 2270 hosts everyday community gatherings, weekly events, and large-scale activations.

Northlake is a privately funded collaborative initiative spearheaded by local property owners, working alongside the Uptown Downtown Community Benefit Districts and the City of Oakland, with the intention to create lasting, positive change that benefits the city as a whole.
